S started her Grade 3 song about a month time, finally she has completed her first piece in slow version.

S practice "Three Blind Mice" study for the weaker fingers.

I received a sms from teacher @ 11.57pm, S gets 130/150 Disctincion for her piano grade 2 practical exam in feb 2012 :). Well done ! my little girl ! I'm so proud of u. A website explain about "What you need to know exams (ABRSM) http://mypianoteacher.multiply.com/journal/item/14/2007_Exam_Results?&show_interstitial=1&u=%2Fjournal%2Fitem&fb_source=message Certificate and exam slip with comments will be receive one month later. Let's me guess how's S marking will be :- piece 1 in A-27, piece 2 in B-26, piece 3 in C-25, Scales and Arpeggios-21, Sight-Reading-16, Aural-15.

Teacher suggested S to take Grade 3 exam in Feb 2013 and grade 4 in Sep 2013 but I told teacher let S skip grade 3 put her in Grade 4 either in Jul / Sep 2013. Teacher encouraged S go Theory grade 2 exam this year, we will let her do grade 1 past year paper first then slowly moving to grade 2 paper. This two weeks, teacher let her enjoy pieces (John W. Schaum) and hand technique (czerny op.599) S learnt new note on "EL Carallero"- 'accraccature' mean crashing note-playing 2 notes in fast speed. Another new thing for S is playing 3 notes in one count.

S wake up very early, We left home by 7.30am..I started remind her about.. sight reading must count it slowly don rush, must say "Good Morning" to examiner, don panic. We reached before examiners arrive at Yamaha. About 8.50am , We saw 2 men walking toward us. One "Angmo" and one "Indian". AngMo start talking with Sabrina while he is walking to exam studio 24,He is very cheerful and friendly. The examiner went out to pick S and went in together with S. The exam very fast! coming out within 7/8 mins. S said she played well on first and second pieces, make one mistake on 3rd piece. Played well on Scales and Major, Aural-singing a little bit out, examiner play a short song,find out what have change on second time.Answer (Pitch changed).clapping piece is 3 counts in a bar. Sight reading, 2 mistake on notes,Rhythm Ok. S said she has tried her best :)

Finally, S exam date getting nearer ,about a week more...Changed from grade 1 exam to grade 2 in Nov 11, spend her quality time to practices almost everyday. She has prepared 3 pieces exam songs and all Scales, Arpeggios & Broken Chords in 4 months time. and she has started her piano lesson since her 5YO birthday in Sep 10 spend about 1 and a half year to reached grade 2. I could says " She is working really hard".Even thought she had scolded or spanked by me. (I am very firm). Yes, piano learning not that easy.. need to spend a lot of of time , effort and discipline over mother and child. I here, to Thanks Sabrina's my lovely daughter about her hard work. Mummy know you have all your effort in and I am very sorry about been fierce to you. after her normal 6hours schooling follow by ballet lesson then we have to rush down to Tampines.. Hmm, Studio 24 is not very cold ,, Yamaha exam piano is not very high..look like smaller than our Kawai. e bench not heavy..I'm su...

A difficult part is on the left hand one finger need to hold 4 counts and another 2 fingers need to play legato and staccato.. Right hand need to change finger all time.

Received a sms from piano teacher : Sabrina practical grade 2 exam is on 27 Feb 2012 (Monday) at 9am Venue : Yamaha Music School ,Studio 24 #03-16 Tampines Mall. Teacher asked me to book a studio before 1 week of the exam date, to let S to has the feeling, checking the environment whether is it too cold... I am getting a bit too excited, a bit of worry, a bit of hoping...hoping that she could strike a good record..

Teacher has recommend S to use metronome in her piano practicing.. She could follow the beats after 2 weeks. and teacher also help to gave this @ $48+ after 10% discount.

Today, Sabrina has learnt piano for 1 year, last 2 weeks I had paid for her Grade 1 exam fees $156. This week, her teacher say Sabrina actually can taking Grade 2 exam , asking me wherther wanted to change ?.. I ask Sabrina on the spot..and she said Yes to me. We top up another $34 Total $190. and I have check with teacher wherther need to postpone her exam date ? but teacher no need.. Sabrina can do it. after lesson we went Compass point to buy Grade 2 exam books. she has only 6 months to prepare for Grade 2.. can she make it ? Teacher has confident on her. I told Sabrina she has to work even harder from now.. Her piano practice schedule is on Monday, Tuesday Wednesday (off), Thurday and Friday.. Weekend (off) day for outing and activity.
